Oh autumn. The rusty orange leaves, the gray morning fog, the briskly blowing breezes… Yeah, I could do without the last two. While they give me the perfect excuse to curly up inside with a fuzzy fleece blanket, I much prefer other reminders of the changing seasons. Somehow, after baking a pie, cheesecake, and cookies, a mound of unused pumpkin still sat in a tupperware container in my fridge. Granted, it was a rather small mound, less than half of a cup, but still… You’d think I’d have used it all up! This bipolar weather confuses me, my neighbors, their dog, the grocery store cashier, and everyone else avoiding our city streets. Just a week ago as I walked downtown, a little trickle of sweat snaked its way down the back of my neck as the sun pushed the thermometer over 90°. Now I still have a trickle on my neck, but it’s from the rainclouds mocking me since I forgot my umbrella at home. Joy.
